From the Pastor,
THE CHRISTIAN MOTORCYCLE ASSOCIATION
On Sunday morning,February 12,members of the local chapter of the Christian Motorcycle Association will be sharing their ministry during the morning worship service. The Christian Motorcycle Association (CMA) is a servant-minded,interdenominational motorcycle ministry with a biblical message of hope and love through Jesus Christ. Their vision is “Changing the world, one heart at a time.”They accomplish their vision through evangelistic outreach primarily, but not exclusively,to the motorcycling community. They believe in …
– The Bible as the inspired and infallible Word of God.
– One God,eternally existent in three persons:Father,Son and Holy Spirit.
– The virgin birth and deity of Christ,His explicit atoning death, bodily resurrection and ascension.
– Salvation through the blood of Jesus Christ.
– The sanctifying power of the Holy Spirit who enables a believer to live holy.
– The second coming of Jesus Christ.
In 2011,30 countries were involved in taking the Gospel to bikers;170,000+ people were ministered to by CMA members around the nation;16,000+ salvations were reported by CMA members and chapters in the USA. Since their founding in 1975,13 million + people worldwide received Christ as their Savior through their “Run for the Son”project.
Run for the Son,(this year it will be on May 5,2012),is a major fund-raising event in which local chapters select a 100-mile course to ride that day. Over the past 24 years this event has raised over 40.7 million dollars to support its ministry and three other ministries. Forty percent went to various Home Missions. The remaining sixty percent of the funds were divided equally between the Jesus Film Project,Open Doors Ministry (that takes Bibles to countries closed to the Gospel),and missionary ventures of the CMA such as printing and distributing Bibles and salvation, discipleship, and devotional booklets to cyclists at events like Thunder Beach here in Panama City Beach.
The local chapter has approximately 30 bikers. They take about three rides each month:a day ride,a week-end ride, and a night ride. In this way all the bikers can participate in at least one of the rides. Members of the local chapter hand out Bibles to cyclists at Thunder Beach, visit those in the Juvenile Detention Center once each month to share Christ and give Bibles to those who want them, and they participate in the Toys For Tots motorcycle ride in December where they hand out Bibles at a booth at the Fairgrounds. They also visit any bikers in the hospital that “go down,”which is a phrase used to describe when a biker has had an accident. Last month three cyclists were killed and a fourth critically injured when a car pulled in front of them. Members of the local CMA visited the survivor in the hospital to pray and to minister in any way they could, and to present the gospel to him if possible.
Let’s welcome the local riders of the Christian Motorcycle Association on Sunday morning,Feb.12.
